Approved Product Claims

Each region of the world has its own regulatory agency and testing procedures (protocols) that govern what claims are allowed to be made for each product.  The US agency for surface cleaners is the EPA and they do not currently have a final testing protocol for residual antimicrobial products against broad spectrum bacteria, viruses, and SARS-CoV2.  Therefore, we are still under review for those claims in that region at this time.  We recommend you follow the guidance of your regional regulatory agencies which all suggest products be used as directed and for purposes within their approved claims.

FAQs

Does it kill and protect against viruses and bacteria?

Goldshield Laundry Antimicrobial Surface Agent is registered with the EPA to eliminate and continuously protect against odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew when used as directed. The EPA also asked to partner with Goldshield on developing the first-ever testing protocol for Laundry products to be tested for their ability to eliminate viruses and broad-spectrum bacteria. The research is going really well and we are excited to share the results when the EPA releases them.

Does it kill and protect against COVID-19?

Goldshield Laundry Antimicrobial Surface Agent is registered with the EPA to eliminate and continuously protect against odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew when used as directed. Additionally, as a result of the pandemic and the emergence of contagious variants and pressure from the public and private sectors alike, the EPA has conducted a study for Residual Antimicrobial products (including Goldshield) against a viral surrogate of COVID-19 to determine what claims they will begin to allow residual antimicrobial products to make. The study is complete and the EPA is just finalizing everything to publish the results publicly. As soon as they do we will link to them on our website.

Does Goldshield Laundry Antimicrobial Surface Agent have an odor or added artificial fragrance?

No. We are proud to be an artificial fragrance-free company! And this product also has no odor.

How long will Goldshield Anitimicrobial Surface Agent last when I use it as a laundry additive?

It depends on a few factors: 1. How often the item has been and will be washed. 2. How new or old the item of clothing is. 3. How pure your water is. 4. What detergent you are using to wash with. Why does that matter? The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) determined that at 50 washes a textile (your clothes) can retain its original integrity but that washes after that will begin to abrade the fibers or break them down. So, since Goldshield requires a "surface" to bond to, once the fibers in your clothes start to break down you will begin to have "holes" in your antimicrobial protection which impact the efficacy (number of microbes it'll kill). The EPA permits Goldshield to state that our antimicrobial protection lasts for up to 90 days per application. Based on these things we feel comfortable stating that you will AT LEAST have wash-to-wash protection. Meaning if you have a favorite shirt that you've probably washed 50 times already, you'll still be protected for that next wash cycle. If you have a brand new shirt, never been worn or washed, the protection will last longer - through your next washings and at least up to 90 days when used as directed. *Please see "Does it matter if we have hard water" FAQ to see how your water might impact your protection.

Does it matter if we have hard water when using Laundry Goldshield Antimicrobial Surface Agent?

It can, but there is no way to test our formula against every level of water purity or "hardness". So, with great confidence, we can say that if you have soft water, the protection will last longer. If you have very hard water, we recommend rewashing with Goldshield at least every 30 days.

Should I use a specific type of laundry detergent to make Laundry Goldshield Antimicrobial Surface Agent most effective?

Yes. We recommend using a nonionic or cationic or a combination of both. An anionic laundry detergent will neutralize or inactivate Goldshield. Goldshield Laundry Detergent *COMING SOON!!* Sign-up for our newsletter for updates and discounts.
